HOW TO PREPARE MATCHA

Two simple ways to prepare matcha

Both drinks start the same way: one 2g serving, water at 175°F / 80°C — hot enough to whisk easily, never boiling.

Traditional matcha

  1. Sift 2g (about 1 tsp) of matcha into a bowl.
  2. Pour in 2 oz of hot water (175°F / 80°C).
  3. Whisk in a zigzag motion from the wrist until frothy with no clumps.
  4. Top up with more water to taste and enjoy.

Matcha latte

  1. Sift 2g (about 1 tsp) and whisk with 2 oz of hot water (175°F / 80°C).
  2. Fill a glass with ice and 6–8 oz of milk.
  3. Pour the whisked matcha over the milk.
  4. Stir, taste, and sweeten if you like.

YOUR QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

Ceremonial matcha FAQ

Straight answers about this tin, our wholesale matcha and making your first cup.

Is this the same matcha as the 500g wholesale bag?

Yes. This 30g tin contains the same non-organic ceremonial matcha as our 500g wholesale ceremonial bag. The smaller format lets you taste it and try your recipes before buying a larger bag.

Is this matcha organic?

This tin is non-organic. Our pink 30g organic tin and 50g organic bag are separate products. Choose this tin when you want the matcha supplied in our 500g wholesale ceremonial bag.

How many drinks can I make?

A 30g tin makes about 15 servings using 2g per drink, or 10 café-style servings using 3g. Your yield depends on the amount of matcha in your recipe.

Can I use it for lattes?

Yes. Its smooth umami, subtle natural sweetness and clean finish work with milk or water. Use it in hot lattes, iced lattes or straight matcha.

Where does it come from?

Our ceremonial matcha is made from first-harvest, single-cultivar Yabukita tea grown in Hon-Yama, Shizuoka, Japan. It is bead-milled in Japan.

How should I store it?

Keep the tin sealed and refrigerate after opening. Keep moisture away from the powder.

Is this a free sample?

This is a full 30g tin available to purchase. We do not currently offer separate samples of our wholesale ceremonial matcha.
